Workforce Development
Creating a pool of interested individuals to work in the hospitality industry in Massachusetts is key to the success of our industry.
The Massachusetts Lodging Association Education Foundation continues to develop partnerships with local technical/vocational schools, high schools, junior colleges, and universities to help deliver career-related training to students who are seeking to improve their earning potential and career options by increasing skill levels, educational levels, or obtaining industry-relevant training.
The MLAEF is currently working with the following schools. Be sure to check back as we’ll be updating this list frequently.
Cristo Rey Boston
Cristo Rey Boston is a tuition-free, Catholic, college-preparatory high school in Dorchester, serving exclusively students from under-resourced communities with the mission of college and career success. Each student works one day per week as part of the Corporate Work Study Program. This real-world job experience not only helps to pay for about half the cost of education for each student, more importantly it instills the hard and soft skills for their eventual success. Often it even helps to shape that trajectory.
CRB seniors earn 100% college acceptance, and alumni finish their degree programs at three times the national average for the similar demographics. Corporate Partners, including the Boston Harbor Hotel among others, can attest that this is a rewarding, local mentoring relationship that showcases the value of investing in a diverse workforce development pipeline.
